Do You Have a Dirty Little Secret?

88

I get asked all the time in my coaching sessions:

“How bad is soda really?” Or they say, “Well I only drink Diet Coke, so that’s not so bad because it doesn’t have any calories or sugar… Right?”

Well I’m here to burst that bubble…..Did you know that sodas are the single biggest resource of calories for Americans. Even though most people understand that soda is bad for them, a Gallup poll reveals that 48 percent of surveyed Americans (nearly half) still drink soda on a daily basis.

Here’s some reasons to break that Soda Addiction:

1. It messes with your bones and teeth.

Did you know that soft drink consumption might be a major factor for osteoporosis? Soft drinks are high in phosphorous and phosphoric acid, which leaches calcium out of your bones and erodes tooth enamel.

2. It messes with your skin.

Sodas lower your PH levels, which causes acne, and zaps you of your radiance.

3. It makes you fat.

Studies have shown that soda consumption (diet or not) increases the risk of obesity. Your chances are 31% greater to be obese if you drink at least one soda per day.

4. Aspartame’s been linked to cancer. A lot.

Aspartame, which is the artificial sweetener in Diet Coke, is one of the most dangerous substances added to food. Aspartame is also on an  EPA list of potentially dangerous chemicals contributing to neurotoxicity, right under Arsenic.

And if that doesn’t scare you enough...

5. The cans are causing health problems too.

Nearly all aluminum soda cans are lined with an epoxy resin called bisphenol A (BPA), used to keep the acids in soda from reacting with the metal. BPA is known to interfere with hormones, and has been linked to everything from infertility to obesity and diabetes and some forms of reproductive cancers.

I let my clients know that to break any bad habit you need to replace it with a healthy one. So one of the best ways to kick your soda habit is to gradually start substituting it with healthy carbonated beverages mixed with freshly squeezed lime, lemon or orange.

So I hope you read something here that makes you stop and think before you grab another soda or let your child have one. I want you to live life with energy, vibrancy and your teeth.
